Snow DAY!!!

Ok, so missing church due to snowy roads isn't quite as good as if school were canceled. But we still had to get out and enjoy the biggest snowfall we've had in our two years on the Island (it was only about 6 inches and melting fast). We don't have sleds, so instead of sledding we went for a short walk out to one of our favorite beaches. We call it big log beach. We took lots of pictures along the way, but I'll just share my favorites.
I love this one. Caleb finally found a pole big enough to catch the kind of fish he REALLY wants to catch. He thinks he's got a whale on the line.

This one is just the kids being forced to pose on our way out to the beach.

Sammie couldn't resist going wading, even with snow on the ground.

I've walked this trail a few dozen times and as winter came I've been amazed at how many green plants there still are this time of year.
Then of course we had to make a snowman.
What a good day! And it's not even dark yet.

Chritmas, birthdays, and the new year

Our three week christmas break got started with Sammie's 5th birthday. She had a great time. We got helium balloons from Thorne Bay. And her friend from church came an hour and a half to party with us.
We had a great Christmas! The kids got everything they wanted and we enjoyed the day together.
Caleb couldn't wait to go shoot his BB gun. He shoots targets right outside the house or takes it to the beach in search of mink.
Liz got a baby stroller and crib. She loves playing house with Sammie.
Josh HAD to have this track, but it was only fun the first couple days. He's ready to give it away if anybody wants it.
Sammie wanted a bath baby just like Liz's. So now they can take baths with their bath babies.
We celebrated new years eve with a great clean up day. New year's eve here means the end of Hunting season. So we scrubbed the back of the truck and the mud room and put the guns away. Then we chopped a bunch of wood. Caleb has become a great wood chopper, but I only have a good picture of Josh.
Then we rearranged bed rooms. We have a high school student that needs a place to stay for a few weeks. So we moved the boys into the girls room to create a guest room. It's been great practice for when we get lots of company this summer. :)

Next was Caleb's birthday. He invited every kid in town plus a friend from South side (about 10 miles away). We ended up with 14 kids ages 5-18. It was great. We played a couple party games. This is one of our seniors at school, she won the paper bag game by being able to pick the bag up with her mouth even after all the sides had been cut away and it was just a paper on the floor. Then we all decorated cupcakes and had ice cream. I believe everybody had a good time and ate all the sugar they wanted.

Now the holiday's are over and school's back in session. I really enjoy my job and I love that I get to work with my kids everyday. But I'm hoping the second half of the school year goes as quick as the first half did. I can't wait for summer!
